The season of holiday eating is upon us! Here are some of my favorites: Thanksgiving Sweet potatoes (even though I seem to be the only one who ever likes them) Cranberries (the kind with the whole berries in it like Jessica makes) My grandma's stuffing (especially the crunchy parts near the opening of the bird). Gravy (the real stuff). Pumpkin Pie Christmas Filet mignon (I like mine cooked medium well with a big dollop of horseradish and some A1 for dipping). Mushrooms cooked in red wine, butter and garlic (to go with my filet of course!). Amy's cheese snaps (yummy homemade cheese crackers with a bit of a kick to them). Shrimp Cocktail Pigs in blankets with Spike's BYB Hot Mustard (The kind that's so spicy it hurts your nose). Amy's homemade yeast rolls (they look just like canned crescent rolls, but soo much better!). Hot ham and cheese croissants (a delicious pairing of ham and sharp melty cheddar wrapped in flaky goodness). Port wine cheese log! (Enough said! I really like the kind with slivered almonds on the outside). Anything from Harry and David (if anyone would like to send me the "deluxe tower of treats" or anything else, I'll be happy to provide an address!). Chocolate Dream Pie (a delightful chocolate mousse pie on a deep dark oreo cookie crust- the most important ingredient). Easter Delicious spiral ham with a sweet yummy glaze. Butter Sauce Potatoes (Potatoes baked in the oven till crispy on the edges and tender in the middle in a "sauce" of melted butter). Asparagus (cooked, but with a slight crisp left, and picked fresh from Giant or better yet, the Toopses back yard!). I just realized I have no idea what dessert we usually eat on easter... I'm gonna say lemon meringue pie would be great. |
